Mo’Nique Black and Proud

Much has been said about Mo’Nique and her so called attitude during awards season. The woman who swept awards season appears to be targeted for the no apparent reason. I especially don’t understand the fascination with the fact that she does not shave her legs. Lots of black women don’t shave their legs, and like Sidney Hicks, lots of brothers who are not in the peterphil (men who seem to want their mates to have a body resembling children) look find it sexy.

In her interview with Barbara Walters, Mo’Nique provides a very sensible explanation to the hair shaving bit. She also puts into context her definition of an open marriage.

Academy award winner Mo’Nique has returned to her gig as the Queen of Night Talk Show at BET. I salute this sister for not only returning to BET but also giving exclusive Oscar weekend exposure to Ebony/Jet instead of People Magazine.

Mo’Nique sets an example to us all that we are not second class citizens and we should stop treating ourselves and other Blacks like second class citizens. So give yourself a big hug take the shackles off by learning your history, and be black and proud.
